BIOGRAPHY:

Julius H. Seaver, Darien; born in Washington Co NY in 1825. he removed with his parents, Lyman H and Sally Seaver, to Genesee Co, when he was but 3 months old. He came to Walworth Co with his father's family, consisting of parents and seven children, six sons and one daughter, in September 1839, and settled in Sec 33, town of Darien; Julius H still owns part of the original homestead. His parents resided where they first settled till 1861, when they removed to the village of Darien. His father died June 1 1864, his mother died Aug 28 1878; his parents had 11 children, two of whom died in the State of New York, two were born in Wisconsin, five sons and one daughter are still living. Mr. Seaver has been married twice; his first wife was Martha J. Heron, born in Washington Co NY, she died in 1858. His present wife was Sarah M. Clerwater; has two children by first wife - Sarah J. and J.M. The father of Mr. Seaver was a native of Arlington VT, born in 1796. he was prominent among the early settlers of Walworth Co and a member of the First Constitutional Convention of Wisconsin, and otherwise prominently identified with the early history of the country. No trace of this family was found in the 1860 US Census. A head-of-household search for Julius Seaver (and known variants) ws unsuccessful in the entire US. A head of household search for Julius and J. (given name only) in Walworth County, Wisconsin was unsuccessful.

In the 1870 US census, the Julius Seaver family resided in Darien township, Walworth County, Wisconsin. The household included Julius Seaver (age 44, farmer, $10,000 in real property, $800 in personal property, born NY), Sarah Seaver (age 39, keeping house, born NY), Sarah Seaver (age 15, at home, born WI), and Jay Seaver (age 13, at home, born WI). In the 1880 US census, J.H. Seaver (married, age 54, born NY) and his wife S.M. Seaver (married, age 48, born NY) resided in Darien township, Walworth County, Wisconsin [LDS CD-ROM for 1880 US Census, full record on FHL Microfilm 1,255,449, page 31D].

In the 1900 US Census, Julius Seaver (head, white, male, born Dec 1825, age 74, married 35 years, born NY, parents born NY, no occupation, own a house free of mortgage) and wife Sarah W. Seaver (white, female, born Nov 1831, age 68, married 35 years, 0 children born, born NY, parents born NY) resided in Darien township, Walworth County, Wisconsin [National Archives Microfilm Series T623, Roll 1820, page 92, ED 84, Sheet 14, Line 20].
