Facts and Events
Living in Northfield, Franklin, Massachusetts in 1850 -- when she was 11, but her father died in 1859 in Barry County, Michigan, so the family had clearly moved. Name: Juliaette A. Williams 1860 Census: 1870 Census: From information on Hiram's Find a Grave site: "Upon further research I find Julia in the 1870 census teaching school in Almira Township, Benzie County, living with her 2 children. The 1880 census shows her married to a William Fox living in Bingham Township, Leelanau County, Michigan with daughter Harriet Bowen and 4 children by William Fox." 1880 Census: Julia died on Easter Sunday, age 60. Note from Holly Noble on the location of Julia's grave: "Tim had a hard time finding the stones. He described them as covered with "thorny prickly bushes", especially Julia's. But, he found and photographed four stones that marked five graves. Julia's grave was offset from the others and covered with leaves; he almost missed it. There are five markers. The double-sided stone is Lewis Bennett and Betsy Bennett. Nearby are two small, but unnamed stones. On the other side of a large fallen tree was Julia's stone, clearly marked. I have added photos to http://www.findagrave.com/ but attached some for you to view. When you view the "cemetery on hill" scene, Tim says the headstones are in the woods about 30 yards from the field that is farmed. Restoration and research of this little cemetery would be a great project for an Eagle-Scout-Want-a-Be! Julia must be "tickled pink" that we have found her...she has been waiting for us for many years." Image Gallery
