    JOSIAH4 TUCKER, probably b at York 2 Jan 1727 [no name indicated on birth record]; d 1798-99; son of Margaret3 (Nicholas2 , William1 ) Tucker and Andrew Wescott; gentleman, who brought his family from Majorbagaduce {Castine} in 1763 to Gouldsboro m (1st) c 1757 SUSANNAs LEIGHTON, bat Dover NH 6 Dec 17 42; d 1794+; (Leighton #9); 10 children Gouldsboro, where on 30 March 1765 he was admin. of Thomas Leighton's estate [Lincoln Co. Probate 1 :64]. Later, he settled at Cherryfield where on 20 March 1772 he bought Obediah Allen's property [Lincoln Co Deed 10: 139]; he sold an island to Henry & Reuben Dyer [Lincoln Co. Deed 8:108]; lieut. in Capt. Shaw's Co. in Rev. War; he owned several mills on the Narraguagus River by 1785 [Wash Co Deed 1:22] on 22 Sept 1792 he sold land to Thomas Archibald for 26 pounds [Wash Co Deed 1 :272], & on 7 March 1796 he sold another 88-acres to Archibald for $30 [Wash Co Deed 1 :535]; Josiah m (2nd) 1794+ SALLY --, b 17??; d at Steuben [TR] 24 Dec 1799; no more children NOTE: Josiah was brother of Hannah/ Anna4 Tucker (b at York 30 April 1729; d 1778-80) who m 175? Jobs5? Small & settled at Pleasant River by 1764. Josiah & Anna were somehow closely related to Dorcas Tucker (b say 1751 ?) who m at Dover NH 29 Sept 1768 Clements Fernald (1746-1816) of Gouldsboro, but the relationship has not been shown.

    21 January 1716 Margaret Tucker accused Andrew Wescott of fathering two bastard children. Margaret, a daughter of Nicholas and Jane Tucker of Kittery, was unwed in 1717 (will of Nicholas Tucker, dated 21 January 1716/7 and probated 2 April 1717, York Co. Probates 2:

    4 Oct 1726 Margaret Tucker and Andrew Wescott were brought before Justice William Pepperell to answer for the crime of bastardy "[a]ppearing & being Sworn Continued Constant in Said Accusation face to face [but] not being Yet delivered w'th Said Child" York 6:23

    3 Jan. 1727 Andrew Wescott "being Accused of being the father of a bastard Child begotton on the body of Margaret Tucker" (York Co. Ct. of Com. Pleas, 4 Oct. 1726, 6:237; 3 Jan. 1727, 6:241).

    Sep 1729 Andrew Wescott, house carpenter of York "formerly of Kittery," "reputed father of a bastard begotten on the body of Margaret Tucker"; the court ordered Andrew Wescott to pay support (York Co. Ct. of Com. Pleas, 18 Sept. 1729).

    4 Mar 1730 Andrew apparently failed to pay as a warrant was issued for his arrest on 4 March 1730 (York Co. Ct. of Com. Pleas, Jan. 1730, 7:123).

    Jul 1732 In the July 1732 court session, Andrew Wescott of York was again charged with the crime of "fathering a bastard child, having begotten on the body of Margaret Tucker of Kittery." (York Co. Ct. of Com. Pleas, July 1732, 9:71 .)
