    "Josiah Dibbell b. Mar. 21, 1726 Saybrook, Conn. d. Apr. 14, 1800 Saybrook, Conn. … John Pierce Dibble and two Josiah Dibbles appear on the lists of the Prison Ship 'Jersey'" in New York Harbour during the Revolutionary War. Family tradition, substantiated by these lists, states he and his two sons were imprisoned during the War. His will was drawn Aug. 10, 1789 and probated 1811."
