    Joshua, who died at Mendon, Mass., 1743, leaving a wife Hannah.
    [Note: His speculative father is listed as Jonathan Underwood (#8, who is really his uncle), about whom the author can find "nothing on record concerning this line" (note: this is not the Jonathan Underwood (#4-iv) who married Ruth Holland and did have a son Joshua bp. Lexington 1726, clearly too young to marry Hannah). This source applies the Sherborn death record of Joshua Underwood on 17 Jul 1731 to the son of Joshua Underwood and Mercy Fairbanks, leaving husband of Hannah unaccounted for. This is an error since the son of Joshua Underwood and Mercy Fairbanks can be shown to be alive in 1736 by his father's probate. The Joshua who d. 1731 has not been positively identified.]
