Information on Joshua Holmes comes from the History of Stonington, Conn., Richard Anson Wheeler, Genealogical Pub. Co., 1977 and from the History of Westerly, Washington, RI. Joshua did not remain in Stonington long after he married Abigail. He purchased land in Westerly and settled there for the rest of his long life. By his will he gave his house and lands to his wife, son, and son-in-law. He served in King Philip's War.
