    "41. Capt. Joshua Abell, born November 23, 1706; … Captain Joshua presented a memorial to the town in 1740 for a highway and in various ways became an active man in public affairs. Prominent member of Congregational Church. Fitchville occupies the site of the old Huntington Iron Works established by Nehemiah Huntington and Captain Joshua Abell in 1750. He was in command of 6th Co. 3rd Regt. in campaign of 1755 of French and Indian Wars. Captain Joshua made Lieutenant of second Co. of train band of Norwich May 1744, Appt. Capt. May 1746."
