BIOGRAPHY: moved from Taunton MA to Wareham. Enlisted in Company K of 2nd Mass. Reg. for 9 months at first call for Civil War volunteers. Re-enlisted and served to the end of the war. Methodist Episcopal, as were those of his children who lived in Wareham. (Carla Self)

MILITARY:

Joseph N. Seaver, a nailer of Wareham, Massachusetts, enlisted as a Private in the Union Army on 30 April 1861 at the age of 30. He was in Company K, 3rd Infantry Regiment, Massachusetts, and mustered out of that unit on 22 July 1861. He enlisted again as a Private on 1 October 1861 at age 30. He went missing on 30 August 1862 at 2nd Bull Run in Virginia. He was wounded on 7 November 1863 at Rappahannock Station in Virginia. He was mustered out of Company C, 18th Infantry Regiment of Massachusetts on 2 September 1864 [American Civil War Soldiers Database on www.ancestry.com].
