From Chalkley’s Augusta County Records:
- Page 455.--1st September, 1752. Thomas Reese's will. Blacksmith. Wife, Mary, executrix with Andrew Bird. Deed for land bought from Valentine Severe, to be made to wife, Mary, and Andrew Bird. Son, Joseph Reese, infant. Teste: Saml. Newman, Wm. Draper, Ralph Rund. Proved, 15th November, 1752, by all witnesses, and both executors qualify.
- Vol. 1 - AUGUST, 1772 (B). - Joseph Pearse (Peace) deposition, 8th April, 1771: Edward Sampson kept school in the neighborhood of Captain Andrew Bird's and boarded with Bird, and Thomas Moore's children went to him. He and Bird frequently got drunk together, and had frequent frolics, when Bird became violent and threatened to kill everybody. Joseph Reece was Bird's step-son.
