2.JOSEPH JONES 1.JAMES H. JONES
Joseph Jones, a son of James H. Jones, was born in NJ October 10, 1785 and died in Highland County VA November 14, 1853. He is buried in Monterey Cemetery. He married Sarah Trimble. Sarah, a daughter of James and Susanna (Shinneberger) Trimble, was born in Augusta County VA about 1787 and died in Highland County June 15, 1853.
Joseph served in the War of 1812 in Captain Jesse Hinkle’s company, attaché to the 5th Regiment Commanded by Lt. Col, John Hopkins, then Lt. Col. W. Street and later by Lt. Col. Isaac Booth.
