"6. Deacon Joseph2 Dakin (Thomas1), s. of Thomas (1) and Susanna Dakin, b. Concord, Mass., about 1669; … He is spoken of as Deacon in the old records and as house carpenter in deeds. He was Constable in 1712, Selectman in 1716 and Surveyor of Highways and Bridges in 1720. He lived near Flints Pond where his father had lived and from whom he had received the property. He d. 13 Mar. 1744, in his 75th year, as recorded on his tombstone which can be seen in the Main Street burying ground in Concord, Mass., and which is in good preservation. His will is dated 8 May 1739, and states 'Housewright, being in the seventieth year of my age'. It was proved 13 Apl. 1744."
