Joseph (Blanchard), b. probably at Charlestown about 1664; d. 18 Mar. 1669, It is only the circumstance of his tragic death that enables us to place him as probably the oldest child of Dea. John and Hannah. A report of 2 Apr. 1669 of the jury of inquest to the County Court states that "Joseph Blancher, aged about five years, son of John Blancher of Chelmsford, fell backward into a kettle of hot lye as it stood in a corner of the chimney, the seventeenth of March last, and departed this life the night following."
