  • 7 April 1761, FOB 9, p. 297 - Jonathan Seaman is appointed Overseer of the Road from Morgans Chaple Opeckon Creek at his House in the room of Jonas Seaman Ordered that the Tithables formerly appointed work on the Same.
  • 4 June 1767, FOB 14 Part 1, p. 18 - Jonathan Seaman is Appointed Overseer of the Road from his House on Opeckon to Jacob Hites It is Ordered that the Tithables Two Myles on Each Side work thereon under him.

    "Jonathan Simmons/Seamons/Seaman (b.1705 c) purchased a 317 acre tract of land from Joseph Mounts and his wife Katherine on 9 January 1736 [Orange Co., VA Deed Book 2, p.385] This tract was part of Paulson, Jones and Mounts' 834 acre patent land. (Tract 29A, Map 1). On 6 October 1762, it was sold by Jonathan's son and heir, Jonathan, to Van Swearigen. [Frederick Co.,VA Deed Book 7, p.56]. Jonathan [b.c.1703] was living on Thomas Anderson's north half of the 542-acre patent land (Tract 144B, Map 4) by December 1737. [Orange Count, VA Deed Book 2, pp.55,56]. Jonathan was deceased by 11 November 1743 when his wife Elizabeth was appointed
    Administratrix of his estate, [Frederick Co., VA Court Book 1, p.2] leaving two sons as orphans: John/Jonas/Jonah and Jonathan, and two daughters: Phebe and Elizabeth [Frederick County, VA Will Book 1, p.3]. On 6 May 1745, Jonathan (b.1730c) purchased the northern half (271 1/2 acres where his father had lived, 8 May 1738) of Thomas Anderson's 1735 patent land containing 542 acres for 20 pounds. His mother, Elizabeth Mitchell, the wife of William Mitchell, released her right of dower as widow of Jonathan Seamon, deceased. [Frederick County, VA Deed Book 1, p.212]
