'Jonas was awarded a medal for his services in the War of 1812. He was of the group of Mennonites & Dunkards who were given exemption from fighting because of their [religious] beliefs but they were required to provide some services. It is believed he provided food & supplies to battles in southwestern Ontario, probably at the battle of Moravian town.'^[3]

   'WILDFONG, JONAS [son of Jacob and Susannah (Ruth) Wildfong], was born October 20th, 1790. He was married to Catherine Livergood who was born May 14th, 1793, and died February 9th, 1874. After his marriage he resided on his father's old homestead where he died November 20th, 1860.'
