    "31 John Woodruff (John 8) b 26 May 1703 Milford, Conn. bpt 30 May 1703 Milford d 3 Feb. 1768 Milford … He was captain of militia in Milford 1750. He and his wife Hannah joined the church in Milford 18 May 1735. … His will was dated 3 Mar. 1767, proved Mar. 1768. The inventory of his estate 3 Mar. 1768 amounted to £2797-16-03. The will mentioned land in Oxford, Derby, West Haven and Milford, as well as a brick dwelling and a sawmill. This provision is of interest. 'Item 15. And also that if either of my children shall try to make disturbance amongst the brothers and sisters, or to brake my will that he or she shall be cut off from all that I give, only five shillings as the law directs.'. … His tombstone is still standing in the old Milford cemetery."
