    "8 John Woodruff (Mathew 3) b 5 Febr. 1672/73 Milford, Conn. d 23 July 1726 Milford m 22 Dec. 1698 Milford Mary Platt b 31 Aug. 1681 bpt 4 Sept. 1681 Milford d 1766 Milford dau Joseph and Mary (Kellogg) Platt. He was among the list of patentees of Milford in 1712, by occupation a cordwainer (i.e., a shoemaker). In the Milford Trained Band he was ensign 8 May 1718, lieutenant 14 May 1719 and captain 14 May 1724. He joined the church in Milford 13 Aug. 1699, his wife 20 Sep.1702. His will dated 13 July 1726, was presented to the court 16 Aug. 1726, and inventory taken Nov. 1726 (New Haven Probate Rec., Vol. 5, p. 313). His estate was valued at £4299-11-07."
