    John Hepler Wood, born 8 December 1869 in Monroe County, Missouri; died 25 September 1938 in Canton, Lewis County, Missouri, buried Shelbina; married Susan A. Jones 15 Jun 1898, Cooper County, Missouri; He earned a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Missouri in 1895 and ordained that year in the Disciples of Christ ministry. He was pastor of the Christian Church in Shelbina 1898-1914, President of the Shelbina National Bank 1907-1914, President of Culver-Stockton College 1917-1937. He received a Doctor of Divinity degree from Culver-Stockton in 1918. He was a Mason and a member of the Odd Fellows. They had no children.

    HEPLER
    John Hepler, of Shenandoah, married Miss Harness. Their son, Jacob Hepler, pioneer of Audrain county, Mo., was grandfather of Rev. John Hepler Wood, banker, minister of the Christian (Diciples) Church and president of Culver-Stockton College, Missouri.
    Another son, Samuel Hepler, born 1785, of near Goshen, Rockbridge county Va. married Katherine Lair, and was grandfather of Rev. J. Newton B. Hepler, distinguished Baptist minister of Missouri.

    - Note: Jacob was actually the great-grandfather of Rev. John Hepler Wood.
