- Wilson, John - entered service Staunton (Augusta County), Virginia, in Virginia regiment & served at Battles of White Plains, Brandywine, Germantown, & Monmouth (where wounded in head); received Pension age 65 in Pendleton District, South Carolina, 1820 resided near County post office; died 1/8/1845; married 1787 Mary/Polly Vickery, on Cathey's Creek near Pleasant Garden, Burke County (area later McDowell County) North Carolina by Colonel Joseph McDewell; widow received Pension abt. age 85 Pickens District, South Carolina; resided there 1848; died 1/7/1853; children: eldest Thomas born 7/18/1789, Luke born 1791, William born 7/18/1792, James & John; soldier's surname also spelled Willson.
