Facts and Events
1841 Census living in West Harling.
!West Harling Parish records show a John Wilson, widower marrying Mary Holden,
singlewoman 3 May 1824. If this is the right John Wilson, he re-married 13 years
after Martha Paine died at 41.
Notes from Betty Shillingford 13 Oct 2006:
My James Wilson descended from John and his young daughter Emma died in 1880 and a Lucy Holden was present at the death. (Emma’s mother was already dead).
In 1881 Lucy and James were in Kenninghall Workhouse – James is a widow and Lucy is unmarried.
I had close associations with East Harling and both my mother and myself were familiar with the surname of Holden.
You may remember their son Charles married Eliza Lewis Diggins That is another surname I know well as my mother’s brother Arthur married an Elizabeth Diggins.
Both Mary Holden and Lucy Holden were born in South Lopham.
I think that is conclusive enough for me.
