    John3 Whittemore (Daniel2, Thomas1), husbandman, born in Malden, Mass., 12 Feb 1665, died in Malden 14 Mar 1730. He married in Bridgewater, Mass., 22 Dec 1692, Ruth Bassett, born there in 1671, died in Leicester, Mass. in 1760, the daughter of Joseph Bassett and twin sister of Lydia who married John's brother Daniel.

    John is usually referred to as John of Malden to distinguish him from his uncle, John (No. 3) of Cambridge. John's son, John (no. 27) is known as John of Leicester.
