born 1650 in Stamford, Connecticut, died 28 November 1688. In recognition of his service in King Phillip’s War, the town voted land to John and other soldiers in a resolution adopted on 22 September 1676. John’s will proved 11 December 1688 names his wife Mary Weeks/Weed/Wickes and he makes his brothers Jonathan and David “overseers” of his children. The will was witnessed by Jonathan Bell and Joseph Bishop. He makes bequest that his “dwelling house and orchard” be used by his wife while she remains a widow after which time it was to be returned to his sons David, John and Thomas and to his daughter Mary.
