Overview

John Walker was born 1799[1] in Tennessee. The first reliable records for John Walker of Sawdust Valley date from the year 1821 with an apprenticeship for Green Graham to John Walker for cabinetmaking[2]. John does not show up in any Maury records before this time. Descendant YDNA matches Walker Group-33.[3]. He also had close ties with multiple families that were former members of Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church before migrating to Tennessee. This includes the McKennon and Farris families of the area[4][5][6]. He married Elizabeth Robinson[7], daughter of James and Jane Robinson. The Robinson family also originated from the Fishing Creek area. New YDNA evidence suggests his grandfather was James Walker and not Abraham Walker as previously believed.
