11/3/1897: W. J. Poundstone and John Snook will have a public sale of 26 head of cattle and 28 head of throughbred Poland-China hogs at the residence of Mr. poundstone, 4 mi. SE of Derby on Saturday, Nov. 13. See bills for particulars.”

Sept. 20, 1906: “Mr. and Mrs. John Snook celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with their relatives and friends at their home five miles southeast of Derby. The couple, born, reared and married in Illinois, coming to this state over 30 years ago, and settling in Lucas County. To this union was born three sons and two daughters. All but two sons, John and Wesley, who reside near them have passed beyond. This aged couple of nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom were present except one grand-daughter, Mrs. Robert Mahall and her baby of Saline, Kansas. A Brother of Mr. Snook, Mr. I. P. Willey of Derby and a sister of Mr. Snook, Mrs. Rebecca Smith, of Derby were also present. An enjoyable time was had by all , a bountiful dinner was served, and the guests departed, wishing this worthy couple many more happy years of wedded life.”
