A biography of John Seaver was published in the book "Collection of Genealogical Records," published by the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The biography reads:

"John Seaver resided in that part of Boston called Muddy River, which became the town of Brookline. A petition to the General Court dated Aug 13 1704 that the "Inhabitants of Muddy River might be allowed a separate village or peculiar,and have power to manage the affairs of said place" was signed by John Winchester, Josiah Winchester, Josiah Winchester Jr, John Seaver and others. It was granted in 1705. The following are from the records of Brookline.

  • John Seaver was chosen tithingman at Brookline, Mar 12 1704/5 (Brookline Records p66).
  • John Seaver elected fence viewer in 1705 and again Mar 5 1710/1
  • Dec 2 1713. John Sever chose a committee to treat with Mr Caleb Gardiner concerning a piece of land, said Caleb offered to give the town of Brookline for the site of a meeting house, to get the bounds defined and to obtain a

legal conveyance. Lieut Thomas Gardiner, Mr John Seaver and others chose a committee to build a meeting house of the same dimensions as those of the meeting houses in the southwest part of Roxbury.

  • Mar 21 1714/5. John Seaver and others chosen selectmen and assessors. John Seaver elected Town Clerk.
  • May 20 1715. John Seaver and others sworn as assessors.
  • Up to Nov 21 1715, the meeting house committee reported expenditures of L152, 17s, 11d and town voted that the said committee finish the meeting house and appropriated L50 therefore.
  • Mar 12 1716, John Sever chosen Town Clerk.
  • Mar 3 1717/8, John Seaver chosen Town Clerk. The town voted him L1 10s for service as Town Clerk for three years past.
  • Apr 29 1718. Space in the meetinghouse was allotted whereto erect pews. To John Seaver the committee ordered that 'he should have the spot or romm between the westerly door of the meeting house and the stairs leading to the mens Gallerie' valued at L4 5s who accepted thereof.
  • Aug 14 1718 John Seaver sworn assessor
  • Mar 4 1723. John Seaver chosen trustee for the Middle School (there were at that time three schools in the town).
  • May 11 1724. John Seaver one of the committee to examine the treasurer's accounts."

No probate records were found in the Suffolk County (Massachusetts) records for John or Sarah Seaver.
