Facts and Events
Edward Scrivner was a cabinet-maker by trade and spoke meticulous English with a heavy German accent. He joined a group of Germans who lived for a time near the Great Lakes, but he tired of this, saying: "You could raise nothing but cranberries." So he moved his family to Missouri. Here there was another problem: He was no longer in a German group. So he must have his children educated for an American world. He went out to find a young woman who would live with them and teach his children. She came, and eventually married his son Jasper. Jasper and Ann eventually moved to Arizona and owned a copper mine.
