  6. Letter, 25 April 1993, from Reece Mayer.

Letter 25 April 1993, Reece Mayer
Ernest Klimek said his mother was Anna Shupskey and his father was John Klimek. Both born in Kleinlomnitz, Austria-Hungary. And that John Shupskey (buried in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho) was his uncle, also born in Kleinlomnitz, a younger brother of Anna Shupskey Klimek.
He was a little vague about when John Shupskey came over, possibly when John was about 18 (born 1895). He couldn't speak English when they came over. He didn't stay long in the East but went out to Idaho and worked on a ranch a year or two. He went into service WWI.
After John Shupskey got out of service, the Klimek family lost track of him for 25 years. When they found him again, he was working as a logger in the woods at New Meadows, Idaho. Ernest said his sister Hildegarde and his mother Anna visited him in New Meadows, about 1951, he thought they went with the John Piegers, parents of Anna Tatko, wife of Jake Tatko at Craigmont.

  7. Letter, January 1991, Reece Mayer .

John Shupskey lived with the Mayers on the farm at Roseberry for awhile when he was about 17. According to Aunt Frieda, Aunt Bertha did not like John Schupsky. Aunt Marie said John hounded Bertha all the time, trying to "hit" on her.
The family lost track of John Shupsky for many years. They eventually made contact again, after John retired, and he and his wife were living in a mobile home at Horse Shoe Bend, Idaho, which is where he died. Uncle Henry used to go down and visit him occasionally.

  14. All U.S. records except his immigration record say that he was born in Germany. Klein Lomnitz, in Hungary (now Lomnička in Slovakia) was at that time an ethnic-German village, and immigrants from Germany in the late 1800s and early 1900s were subjected to less discrimination than immigrant Hungarians. John is not the first immigrant from Klein Lomnitz to claim that he was German, rather than Hungarian.
