John Ray/Rhea sent his five oldest male children to America. Thespelling was to have changed when the boys came to America. SonWilliam is believed to have changed his name to Rhea and is usuallyreported to have settled in West Virginia or Eastern TN. Surnamespellings in Ireland are : Ray, Rea, Rhea. Information from A.Deason Smith: adeasons@bellsouth.net. The IGI has him born about 1720 and marriedabout 1739. Mr. A. Deason Smith states that is is only a possibilityfor the ancestry of James Rea, Sr.. There is no proof as yet. Alsospeculation that John Rhea is descended from French HuguenotAncestory, again with no proof.

Indenture made the 26th day of March, 1751, between Hezekiah Throwerof Johnston County, North Carolina, and Joseph Wrenn of Surry County,Virginia for 37 pounds, conveying to Hezekiah Thrower, 195 acresbeginning at upper Fork of the first great Creek above ChristiannaFort, granted to John Ray, by patent bearing date of October 16, 1727.Witnesses were M. Cadet Young and Thomas Jackson. Presented in Courton March 26, 1751. Deed Book 5, page 22.

This is only a possibility. There is no proof as of yet. There is alsospeculation that John Rhea is decended from French Huguenot Ancestory,again no proof yet.
