John B. Reynolds

John B. Reynolds was born John Billups Reynolds, in Gainesville, Hall, Georgia. He was/is the third of eight children bore from the union of his parents, Sharp Spencer and Nancy (Bates) Reynolds. He enlisted in the Confederacy on September 23, 1861 in Hall County, Georgia. He was a member of Captain Dorsey's Company being Company D, 27th Georgia Volunteers. The company was commanded by Col. Smith. He entered into Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. He was admitted on March 30, 1862 with Typhoid Fever. John B. Reynolds died April 5, 1862. His body was never returned home for interment. He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Richmond City, Virginia, in Sec. A, Row G, Grave 51. Most of the time, if or when a soldier passed away at or in Chimborazo Hospital they were interred at Oakwood Cemetery in the Confederate Section. This was very convenient because the cemetery was located very near Chimborazo Hospital, being there was only one mile separating the two.
