  • Moved to Mathews County, VA. Unsure of time or reason he went down there. Married his Virginian wife Maria Jones about 1846 and had seven children born there. Abt 1855 Maria's mother died, and when John moved back to Middleboro with his family in 1859, Maria's father Oswald moved with them.

  • After death of his wife Maria, he remarried and resided at 117 3rd St, Fall River, MA at the time of his death.

10/24/1863:2 J.B. Ramsdell, of Thompson neighborhood, has shown us some English turnips, 20 inches in circumference, grown by him since July 20th. They were raised on very sandy soil.

09/24/1864:2 J.B. Ramsdale has a Virginia breed of hens that lay very large eggs. Mr. Geo Waterman hands us one weighing one fourth of a pound.
