    Pratt, John, Hartford. Will dated 18 March, 1741-2: I, John Pratt of Hartford, being advanced to old age, do make this my last will and testament: Imprimis: I give to my grandson Ozias Pratt, the son of my son John Pratt decd., the house and half the homelott on which sd. House standeth (in which my sd. son John dwelt), the south side thereof, to run through sd. lott from east to west, butting east on the highway and south on the heirs of Thomas Dickinson decd. Also, I give to him my sd. grandson one lott of land on the east side of the country road in Hartford, known by the name of the Neck lott, which I bought of John Olcott. Also, I give to sd. Ozias Pratt one lott of land in Hartford in the Little Ox Pasture, butting east on a highway leading into the wilderness, north on land of Caleb Stanly decd., and south on Richard Goodwin's land. Also, I give to the sd. Ozias Pratt one lott of land in the Long Meadow, butting east on the Connecticut River, west upon land (__________ ), north on land belonging to Nathaniel Goodwin, and south on land belonging to Obadiah Spencer. All which several pieces of land I give to my sd. grandson Ozias Pratt forever. I give to my grandson John Pratt, son of my son John Pratt, late of Hartford, the north half part of the homelott on which my sd. son John dwelt, butting east on the country road leading to Windsor and west on land belonging to the heirs of Thomas Butler decd. Also, I give to my sd, grandson John Pratt one piece of land in Brick Hill Swamp which I bought of Samuel Welles, butting west on a highway, running north, south and east on land belonging to Obadiah Spencer, and north on land belonging to Thomas Burr. Which sd. pieces of land I give to my sd. grandson John forever. I give to my grandson Isaac Pratt, son of my son John, all my right in that tract of land on the east side of the Great River in Hartford called the Five Miles, to be to him and at his dispose forever. I give to my son William Pratt my dwelling house and homestead in Hartford which butts cast and west on a highway, north on Maynard Day's, and southerly on land I have already conveyed to him by deed, which I give to him and his eldest male heir forever. Also, I give my sd. son William my lott of land in the upper end of the North Meadow in Hartford, which butts east on land partly belonging to Ozias Goodwin and part on Maynard Day’s land, and west on upland, northerly on the heirs of Daniel Pratt decd., and southerly on the heirs of Capt. Aaron Cook decd. I give this to him my sd. son William and to his eldest male heirs successively forever. Also, I give to my son William one lott in the lower end of the North Meadow adjoining heirs of Samuel Olcott deceased. Also, I give him my son William my Blue Hill lott so called, adjoining land of the heirs of Capt. Aaron Cook and of Ozias Goodwin. I give to my son William my whole right of land in the Township of Hartland, to him and his heirs forever. Also, I give my son William my right in the old mills in Hartford. I give to my two daughters, Hannah Porter and Esther Talcott, besides what they have already had, £20 apiece in moveable estate. I give to my granddaughter Susannah Talcott my feather bed and boulster, also my warming pan, also my chest marked with 'W. G. S.' on the foreside thereof, which I give her as a token of my love. I appoint my son William to be sole executor, and order him to pay and discharge all my just debts and the legacies given to each of my daughters.

    Whereas, I, John Pratt of Hartford, have made and declared my last will and testament, dated 18 March, 1741-2, as may be seen on this paper, and therein gave land to the children of my son John Pratt decd., I now make this alteration: I give to Hannah, the widow of my sd. son John decd., her right of dowry in the lands so given to the children of my sd. son, that is, 1-3 thereof, for her improvement so long as she remains his widow. And further, the legacies I ordered my son William to pay to Hannah Porter and Esther Talcott shall be reckoned and accounted to them according to the value of bills of the old tenor when my foregoing will was made and declared. 15 December, 1744.
