1935 - Funeral notice (Paper and date date is not known): Late Mr. J.F. Poynton. The funeral of the late Mr. John Frederick Poynton took place at the Deloraine general cemetery yesterday afternoon. Deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Poynton (Meander), and married a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Donoghue (Golden Valley). He was predeceased by his wife ten years ago, and leaves two sons, Messrs, Harry and Lee Poynton (Meander), and two daughters, Mrs. E. Whiteley and Miss Elsie Poynton (Meander). The chief mourners were Messrs. H. and L. Poynton (sons), Harry (Reedy Marsh), James (Croydon, Vic.) and William Poynton (Silvern, Vic), brothers; Mrs. J. Donoghue (Melbourne, and Miss E. Poynton (Reedy Marsh); sisters; and Messrs. J. Donoghue, D. Donoghue, W. Dixon (brothers in law). Deceased was a member of the Druids' Lodge. He was engaged in the construction work of the hydro electric power station at Tarraleah last Easter, and he took ill there, later being removed to the Launceston Public Hospital, where he passed away. The burial service was conducted by Rev. T. Monaghan, and the funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. B. J. Cameron.

John is buried in the same grave as his mother.
