Newell, John. Court Record, Page 117—(Vol. V)—3 September, 1696: A Writing called by Thomas Newell and others the Last will and testament of John Newell, was exhibited in Court and Sundry witnesses to prove the same, which are very controdictary one to another, and are so cross each to other that we can not see reason to approve of the will, and therefore we order the Estate distributed as followeth: To the Eldest son a double portion of the Estate, and the rest his Brothers & Sisters equal portions. Adms. to Thomas & Samuel Newell, and appoint Mr. Samuel Wadsworth, Mr. Samuel Hooker and Lt. John Judd distributors."
