From the biography of his grandson James Brannum Morrow:
Mr. [Jesse V.] Morrow as a native of one of the Carolinas, and was born in 1814, but went, when a boy, with his parents to Tennessee, and in about 1833 to Butler County, Missouri, where Mr. and Mrs. Morrow both died within a few hours of each other, when James B. was but a boy. John M. Morrow the grandfather of James B. was a son of John Morrow who immigrated from Ireland to America prior to the war for independence.
John M. Morrow is listed in the 1840 Ripley Co, MO census with David James and Jesse nearby. Daughters unknown. Presumed son Isaac N. married in 1845 to Lisa Sturret and died soon after.
DNA results show John's descendant matches 37/37 with those of the Flat River Morrows, including William Morrow of Person Co, NC, m. Mary Underdown, believed by researchers to be a brother. Based on various other evidence, including William's presence as a bondsman on the marriage record, William is in turn believed to be the brother of Benjamin Morrow m. Nancy Harris, d. 1852 Lawrence Co, TN.
