Sophia and Tavener Knott (b. 1816) were children of John Knott (b. 1754, music master) and Sophia Pelham (P. Stubbs). Taverner Knott, artist, is mentioned in Gladstone’s diaries (web). John’s family moved to Edinburgh in 1826 and he became a portraitist and later a successful photographer; he photographed Gladstone and R. L. Stevenson.
