Fitchburg Sentinal Fitchburg, Massachusetts Tuesday August 20, 1968 John E. McNally, 87, of 9 Chestnut St. died Monday at 69 High St. after a long illness. He was born in Ireland, Feb. 26, 1881, a son of the late Dominic and Mary (McDonnell) McNally, and lived here more than 60 years. He was the husband of the late Mary A. (Connolly) McNally, and was a retired construction worker. Mr. McNally is survived by three sons, Earl M. and Thomas F. McNally, both of Fitchburg, and James B. McNally of Santa Clara, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Racine of Lunenburg, and Mrs. Florence Thibault of Somerset; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Patrick McNally of Framingham, and Thomas McNally of Ireland, and two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Leyden of Framingham, and Mrs. Mary Enright of Hudson. The funeral will be held Thursday from the Smith Funeral Home with a high mass of requiem at 10 a.m. in St. Camillus Church. Burial will be in S t. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 7 to 9 tonight, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. It seems he went back to Ireland between these years as...1. There is a ship's manifest for 13 Sept 1909 stating he is going to live with his wife Mary A (Connelly) McNally at 75 Kimbal St, Fitchburg.2. There is a gap of 7 years between the birth of first child and secon d. 1903 and 1910....nine months after his return to USA in 1909.3. Ship's manifest makes clear that this was not his first visit to USA. Married on 1906
