Wood, p. 410, gives the Will of John McDaniel, which leaves
everything to six children and states four had received their inheritance "some thirty odd years ago." Because of this, both Wood and
Whitley thought that the 1st six were children of his second wife and
the 2nd four belonged to his first wife. Yet the marriage dates show
that seven children belong to Margaret and only two or three belong to
Lucy. (Will of John McDaniel dated 3 Jun 1835, prob. 18 Feb 1839, W. B.
10, p.77, Amherst Co., VA.)
