    John Mayo was born in Kent, England, in 1629, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Mayo. He immigrated to America in 1632 with his mother and step father, Robert Gamlyn, Jr. The family settled in Roxbury, Massachusetts. He married Hannah Graves, daughter of John and Judith Allard Graves, in 1654. They had nine children. He died in 1688.
