23 April 1763: Indenture between John Lucas and William Ham both of Orange Co. Wheras William Lucas, Father of William Ham's wife and Grandfather to John did by his last will and testament 14 January 1758 give to his daughter Mary Ham, 200 acres being the upper part of the tract. As it is a doubt whether Mary Ham by the gift aforesaid had an absolute right in the simple to the land, this indenture witnesseth John Lucas, in consideration love and affection he beareth unto his Uncle and Aunt William Ham and Mary Ham, as well as for 1 pound as heir at law to his grandfather William Lucus, dec'c, do hereby grant 200 acres. 22 May 1764: Indenture between William Ham of Orange Co. and Andrew Shepard for 30.2.11, grants 200 acres, the said William Ham now lives on. 150 he bought of Thomas Warren, left by will of William Lucas to Jean, his daughter, spouse to the said Thomas Warren, and the other 50 acres left by William Lucas to his daughter, Mary, late wife of William Ham, and for the whole of the 200 acres he has proper deeds from John Lucas, heir at law to the above deceased William Lucas. Land bounded by lines by Beverly, Lawrence Taliaferro, John Hardwich, and Moses Lucas. 22 Mar 1796: 200 acres previously willed to Mary Ham, daughter of William Lucas, Sr. is sold by John Lucas and Elizabeth his wife to Benjamin Johnson for 140 pounds current money. Land located between Nedo Mountain ans Stills Mountain beginning in the Octonia line. Orange County, VA, Deed Book 21, 1795-1800, pgs 115-116.
