Facts and Events
In memory of John Wesley LOCKHART, son of Albert and Annetta LOCKHART, born in Jackson County, March 13, 1867, and departed this life August 24, 1942, aged 75 years, 5 months and 11 days. Death was due to a complication of maladies. He was united in marriage to Hattie L. ARCHER on October 4, 1890, and to this union a son was born that July 4, 1891. The mother died the same day. On April 4, 1894, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen YATES and to this union eleven children were born, three of which are deceased, Tona, Claude and Ida. The wife, the following children survive: Mrs. Lucy PINGLEY, Mill Creek, WV.; Noel LOCKHART, Windy, WV; Mrs. Katherine WRIGHT, West Union, WV.; Mrs. Annetta MORRIS, Parkersburg, WV.; Bryan LOCKHART, Palestine, WV; Beryl LOCKHART, Baltimore, Md.; John W. LOCKHART, Jr., Parkersburg, WV; and Mrs. Beulah PARSONS, of Kimball, WV. One brother, G. N. LOCKHART, Sandyville, WV.; and the following sisters, Mrs. Christena SOMERVILLE, Mrs. Sarah ARCHER, and Mrs. Anetta VANNOY, of Sandyville, WV.; Mrs. Ida DICKSON, East Liverpool, Ohio; and Mrs. Lilla LEYS, of Parkersburg, WV. He was laid to rest in the LOCKHART family cemetery. Funeral was directed by Undertaker Lawrence FORD, with Rev. STATES officiating, assisted by Revs. SOMERVILLE and CALTRIDER. Pallbearers were; J. H. TONCRAY, Okey SMITH, Everette MOORE, Albert BOWER, C. A. MCPHERSON and Vincent OTT. Flower girls were; Izetta, Mary Ruth and Elizabeth LOCKHART, Joanne LOCKHART, Betty Lou LOCKHART, and Pauline MOORE. (Jackson Herald, Fri., 2 Oct 1942) |
