[edit] Information on John Kious◦1816?FAMILY MIGRATED FROM VIRGINIA TO OHIO WITH HALLS AND FISHERS? As posted on Genforum.com by Dora Baer (information about John Henry Kious, who married Mary Caplinger), found and forwarded to shb, 29 Jan 2007, by Kathryn Lones Pyles [full caps mine--shb], indicates that John Henry Kious (1775-1834) came to America from Wurttenburg, Germany, at an early age. He married Mary Caplinger of Samuel Caplinger ancestry. Samuel lived around Philadelphia 1750; died 1769. John, Mary and three children (Katherine, John Henry and Solomon) came in a caravan from Finistree [sic--shb], Virginia, with the Morris, STALEY, HALL AND FISHER FAMILIES, in the spring of 1816, to a seventy acre patch of wilderness on the west bank of the Scioto River, about seven miles south of Columbus, Ohio; nearby was the Chillicothe - Columbus Indian Trail which is now Route 104. John and two sons immediately erected a log cabin nearby. Son Zeniah was born in this cabin in 1817; Mary died that same year and was buried one half mile west on wilderness land purchased by John, thus establishing the KIOUS Graveyard.? [The rest of this seems to be Kious family history--shb.] ?shb 29 Jan 2007 [Note: I looked for this location on my atlas. It looks like this seventy-acre "patch" was close to today's Circleville (east of the Scioto) and near to today's Pickaway County, with today's Ross and Fayette counties located south and west. Southeast of Circleville is a town named Hallsville--shb.] ?shb 29 Jan 2007.
