The story goes that John Kinder I married Margaret Compton who was born of a Miami Indian and a white captured mother. John Kinder I was allegedly killed in an Indian raid at a fort around Coalsmouth or present day St. Albans. Since Margaret was 1/2 NA [Miami Indian] she and her Kinder children were allowed to go free. They sought and found refuge in another fort near present day Marmet. This was in the 1790-1800 era. Later, at that fort, Margaret Compton Kinder married Daniel Javins. Thus she was the matriarch of the Kinder and Javins clans in Boone Co.
John Kinder II married Mary Ward d/o James Ward and a full blooded Indian thus Mary was also half Indian. Their son John Kinder III was my gg grandfather and married Mary Holstein whose mother was a Javins (Sally).
Their daughter Mahala was my g grandmother.
