  2.   John Baker Key is also my great-great grandfather, so will be glad to exchange information and would love to see his obituary. I have a copy of his Memorial Day address that I could send to you that he delivered in May of 1885 at Trinity Methodist Church located near Mayfield, Kentucky in Graves County. I am descended from John Baker Key through his son Lew Wallace Key (2-8-1861/9-21-1933) who was named for a general in the Union Army. One of my mother's brothers inherited the oil painting of John Baker Key which needs to be restored and copied.

John Baker Key was son of Elizabeth Baker (1801/1860) and Joseph Key (ca. 1800/3-27-1849). Joseph was the son of Jonathan Key (d. 1827) and Mary Davis and Jonathan was the son of James and Mary Key. Supposedly, James immigrated from South Cariff, Wales in 1848 [s/b 1748] settling in Carteret County, North Carolina in an area that is now part of Jones County.
