From Robbins' book, pg 37: Having farmed all my life, I know no other work. I like farm life, was raised on a farm, raised all my children on a farm. Am the father of 9 children all grown and married. I taught all of them to work, however not all of them are farming... We all are lovers of music. Am an old man now, never did drink or smoke or use tobacco, nor curse because father taught us it was unclean; for which I am thankful.

Dates of birth and death from "Caddo Cemetery Records" with a note on the first page of text that says "Submitted by Mrs. E.K. Norton who copied notes of the late O.C. Roscoe, now in possession of Mrs. Thelma Roscoe, 660 Linden, Shreveport." I am not sure whether this refers to the entire book or just the first section, but it is the only reference that I found to any author. On page 10:

"John C. Jackson, April 5, 1880 Oct. 25, 1956"
