Will of John Hogge,

In the name of God Amen I John Hogge of South Carolina York District being through the abundant mercy of goodness of God tho weak in body yet of a sound and perfect understanding and memory do constitute this my last will and testament and desire to be received by all as such imprimis I most humbly bequeath my soul to God my maker beseeching his most gracious acceptance of it this the all sufficient merits and meditation of my most compassionate Redeemer Jesus Christ who gave himself to be an attonement for my sins and so able to save to the utmost all that come unto God by him seeing he ever liveth to make intersession for them and who I trust will not reject me a returning penitent sinner when I come to him for Mercy In this hope and confidence I render up my soul with comfort humbly beseeching the most blessed and glorious Trinity one God Most Holy most Merciful and gracious to prepare me for the time of my dissoulution and then to take me to himself into that peace and rest and incocmparable felicity which he had prepared for those that love and fear his Holy name Amen blessed be God Imprimis I give my body to the earth from whence it was taken in full assurance of Its resurrection from thence at the last day as for my burial I desire it may be decent without pomp or state at the discretion of my dear wife and my executors hereafter named who I doubt nor will manage It with all requisite Prudence as to my worldly estate I will and positively order that all my Just debts be paid. Item, I Give all of my estate namely household and kitchen furniture to my beloved wife Elizabeth Hogge. Item, I give all of the cattle and hogs marked two smooth caps and two nicks in the left ear all these I give unto my Dear wife Elizabeth Hogge also I give my horses consisting of two on Bay Mare also one Bay horse all of which I give unto my Dear wife Elizabeth Hogge all of which at her Decese to equally Divided between my three sons: Daniel M. Hogge and James K Hogge, and Alexander C. Hogge with the exception of my Bay horse him I give unto my son Alexander C. Hogge at the Decese of my wife Elizabeth Hogge also I give all of my farming utensials and mechanic toos to my Dear wife In the same manner also my three guns consisting of two smooth bors and one rifle all of which I leave In the same manner to my wife Elizabeth Hogg. Item, I give my son WILLIAM G. HOGGE fifty cents I do constitute and appoint my worthy friend William Pressly and my Dear wife Elizabeth Hogge executors of this my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this the 26th day of March in the year of our lord 1836.
