!MARRIAGE: Parish Register, St. Patrick Church, Biddulph, Lucan, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada - Marriage Records, Page 10. John and Mary O'Neil were married on February 9, 1864 by Rev.J. Scanlon. Witnesses were James Poe and Margaret Cooney.

!John immigrated to Canada in 1850 according to a newspaper clipping with a biography about his life. The same article mistakenly states his marriage was in 1858 in London, Ontario, but it was in 1864 in Biddulph Parish. (See Above) The article also states that John's father, Dennis Heenan, came to Canada with two of John's brothers and one of his sisters when John's oldest brother was about 15 years old. The oldest brother became ill about the time they were to leave and it was decided that the mother would stay behind with the sick son, the baby daughter, and John Charles, until the sick son was well enough to travel and they would join the rest of the family later. The ill son recovered, but John's mother became ill and soon died from the illness. John relatives and friends of the family assisted in raising the children. The article states that John came to Sioux City. Iowa from Canada in 1870. In the spring of the following year John purchased homestead rights to 160 acres in nearby Willis, Nebraska. His land holdings increased to 400 acres by the time he reached retirement. He also states he was born in 1832 in the same article.
