[Since probate was not opened until 1804, and no record of his death in 1798 is found except for his son 31 Jul 1798 which could be a cause for confusion (inscription for son found NEHGR, p. 57:73, but none for the father?) On the other hand, if he lived into the 1800's, as a young couple, more children might be expected. All in all, because this source has several errors, the probate date is clearly provable while this secondary source has some credibility issues, until some confirmation is found. No mention of John's death on any date is found in the Diary of James Parker, which mentions his sister Lucy, and mother's, deaths (NEHGR, Vol. 19 & 20).]
