NOTE: This Private John Harrison IS NOT "Captain John Peyton Harrison." Unintentional or intentional assimilation of profiles and records was made to Captain John Peyton Harrison’s FamilySearch profile in 2012, which caused this Private John Harrison to assume his namesake.

FamilySearch itself, in 2012, created the profile for Captain John Peyton Harrison and his parents, spouses, and children, whose published genealogies, DAR, and SAR submissions affirm his Rev. War record, parentage, and family history going back to 1891 to recent scholarly research for William and Mary college, showing he was the son of Thomas Harrison and Anne Waye Peyton and married his cousins Elizabeth Peyton and Frances Peyton.

Curator and administrative action have taken place on the affected profiles to separate errors caused by Private John Harrison’s vitals and family details which consumed Captain John Peyton Harrison’s disconnecting his parents, spouses, and children, his service records, and falsely assuming his identity. This Private John Harrison is NOT Captain John Peyton Harrison, as proven by historical facts.

The following information is known to represent this Private John Harrison:

John Harrison was born on 18 Jul 1744 in Dettingen Parish, Prince William County, Virginia, to parents Cuthbert Harrison and Frances (Barnes) Osborne, the widow of Thomas Osborne, and died circa 1823 in Fairfax County, Virginia. John Harrison served in the Revolutionary War as a "PRIVATE" in Capt. Gabriel Long's Company of detached Riflemen commanded by Col. Daniel Morgan, Continental Troops between Jul 1777 and Feb 1778 according to DAR submissions and corresponding fold3 records:

Autosomal DNA links descendants of William, Nancy, John, and Thomas. However, William's DOB contains errors as Private John Harrison was born on 18 Aug 1744, and therefore William can not be born in 1753. The error may be caused by inaccurate DAR submissions, which misestimated John Harrison's DOB circa 1730.

Find-a-grave still contains the following errors and was not based on genealogical research as stated on the profile: "I am not interested in making this a Genealogical information Website" but fails to correct the errors. The profile admittedly was sourced from geni.com. The SmartCopy tool was used to copy/paste the errors from FamilySearch to geni.com, which at the time contained the errors. The find-a-grave source for Private John Harrison contains the erroneous namesake of “Captain John Peyton Harrison,” including several of his revolutionary war records, which have been proven DO NOT belong to this Private John Harrison. Additionally, an 1820 census clearly shows “John P Harrison” and also not belonging to Private John Harrison.
