JOHN GREEN JR.; [ Source Rich Family Association, Wellfleet, Mass. Information on file as of 1993]; This John Green seems to have been the "Jr." of that name, who was in Charlestown, Mass., in 1641, a mariner. It seems likely that he was probably the son of John Green, master of the ship "John and Sara", which was employed by Robert Rich, merchant, and John Beex, to bring the Scots prisoners to Boston. A publication of the Beverly, Mass. historical Society in 1901 (Page 140) has this to say of John Green: "But very little can be found in the records of the Quarterly Courts, or in the records of the town of Salem or Beverly concerning John Green. The time of his coming to the colony is very indefinate, for in the sailing lists, there appears to the name of John Green in four entries prior to 1650. His name appears in the court records as a witness as early as 1650, and as a juryman and in other instances near that time. By occupation he was a mariner. |
