  3. Lots of websites say John died 1749 or about 1749, but none I have seen explain what this is based on. The will of John Fletcher of Concord (Middlesex probate file 7862), dated 1746/7, proved 1749, names a wife Hannah, but mentions no children, making bequests to kinsmen and others not even identified as being related. This is the John Fletcher who m. 18 Feb 1689/90 Hannah Hunt and had no children (see TAG, p. 75:32).

The first wife of the John of this page, Mary, d. 1734, as recorded in Source:Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Births, Marriages, and Deaths, 1635-1850, p. 158. There are is then a record in Source:Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Births, Marriages, and Deaths, 1635-1850, p. 171, "Elisabeth Fletcher ye Wife of John Fletcher her Husband Died october. 18. day. 1748". (His son John Fletcher m. Jane Stratton and moved to Rutland, Mass., and Jane lived until 1801 so this does not appear to apply to him - see Source:Rutland, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records of Rutland, Massachusetts, to the End of the Year 1849, p. 139, 225.) Also, p. 183, "John Fletcher of Concord & Sarah Kidder of Chelmsford were Married by the Rev'd Mr Daniel Bliss September 12th 1751". There are two Sarah Kidders in Chelmsford. One is born in 1741 so clearly too young, and d. 1756 as the daughter of her parents James and Sarah. There are no death records shortly before 1751 that might leave a widow Sarah. That leaves Sarah Kidder, d/o John and Lydia, b. 1709. Source:Kidder, Frank Eugene. History of the Kidder Family from A. D. 1320-1676 has no details on her besides her birth.

All this could easily be the sequence of marriages of a single man. This, of course, would imply that John lived past 1749.
