    [Has photo of Memorial Stone, added later -- inscription says he was son of Josiah who owned acreage on Rock Camp, grandson of Amaziah who owned land on the north side of Elk Creek (now called Northview), and great nephew of Daniel Davison Proprietor of CLKSB]

    John Benjamin Davisson, son of Josiah and Lucretia Shinn Davisson, married Patsy Bailey in Harrison County on 23 Mar 1826. They had the following children: Benjamin F., born 27 Apr 1827 - died 20 Jun 1897; Josiah 'Joshua,' born 12 Jan 1829 - died 14 Jan 1894; Mary Elizabeth, born 7 Jan 1832 - died 4 Nov 1889 (married Elias Gaines); John H., born 20 Nov 1832 - died 28 Feb 1901; Martha Ann, born 20 Jun 1836 - died 8 Aug 1904 (married Josiah P. Smith); an infant, born and died about 1838.

    "John Davidson was the first pastor of the Flemington Baptist Church. His ordination was recorded in Harrison County on 16 Oct 1837. He and his wife, Patty, were charter members at the founding of the Flemington Baptist Church on 21 July 18__." -- THE HISTORY OF TAYLOR COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA, page 29.

    He was also one of the first settlers in the Grass Run, New Creek area of Harrison County--31 Jul 1834, Grass Run by patent: Harrison County Land Records, SB. 5; page 162.
